    6.a myth- folk tale, false belief or idea (myth of Hercules)
    7.a metaphor- describes a subject (life is a rollercoaster)
    8.a simile- comparison (the house is as clean as a whistle)
    9.personification- nature or character to animals ( the run down house seemed depressed)

    When Scout, in To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), remarks that she “inched sluggishly along the treadmill of the Maycomb County school system,” she does not indicate what literally happened at school. She figuratively suggests how it felt by implicitly comparing the experience to being on a treadmill.

  13. 1. a symbol – In Lord of Rings it would be the ring and what it represents.
    2. an emoticon – a smile face for being happy or the skull and crossbones to symbolize death,
    3. an icon – is someone or something that represents the premium in their profession, like Bill Gates is an Icon of the computer realm.
    4. an archetype – could be the use of water to symbolize a new beginning. A rose to mean romantic love or mortality because it will wilt an die.
    5. an allegory – is the use of names in a particular story to have an additional meaning. Like the Name Christian in Pilgram’s Progress or being born in the city of destruction.
    6. a myth – usually of a religious nature. Around the world we have stories a virgin birth, only son that is born to save a people.
    7. a metaphor – represents one thing but means something else. Like a runner galloping down the sidelines.
    8. a simile – represents one thing but means something else using the words like or as. “looked and smelled lie a peppermint drop.
    9. Personification – attributing human qualities to objects or animals. Like in Animal Farm.

    Allegory- story, poem, picture, that can be interpreted or represent hidden meanings pilgrims process
    myth-usually super natural and usually is used to explain things. Most of the time not true. vampires
    metaphor- used when comparing two unlike things while not using like or as roses are red violets are blue
    simile- using the words like or as to describe something my love for you is like my love for chocolate
    personification- giving something non-human, human-like qualities my computer would scream at me every time I pressed a wrong button.

    Emoticon is a face or symbol you make whether it is in writing or used as a facial expression. ☺
    Icon someone that stands out or looked up to for past history or events Like Babe Ruth.
    Archetype is a typical explanation of a person or thing and how someone can be dressed or how they look.
    Allegory a story or painting that can be read deeply and has hidden meaning like the Mona Lisa.
    Myth can be a natural or unnatural phenomenon that was from past history such as the Lock Nest Monster.
    Metaphor a speech in which words are form into phrases. Roses are red violets are blue.
    Simile comparing one thing to another. Look what they are both wearing.
    Personification natures or humans characteristics.
