In the Maupassant story "The Jewelry", I did not like the way the story ended. In the end it just stopped and lost all detail. However, I did like the fact that the man suspected the jewelry was fake until he went to sell it. I also liked how happy the couple was together, but it was saddening that he was so distraught after her death.
I liked the plot twist and finding out about the large expense the jewelry had actually cost. I enjoyed the point of view that the story was told, so the reader followed along with the husband’s thought rather than the reader knowing the truth the entire time. I thought that it was quite an interesting story!
I enjoyed the way the author wrote the story and the narration. It seemed to to be a slower story because it took a while to get to the main part of the story. I thought it took until the end of the story to find out that the jewelry was very valuable and realize why the wife loved her "fake" jewelry.
I was sad that the wife died so quickly because they make you love her quirky nature and then kill her in a matter of two sentences. I liked how the thing the man hated most turned out to be his salvation.
I was sad that the wife died so quickly because they make you love her quirky nature and then kill her in a matter of two sentences. I liked how the thing the man hated most turned out to be his salvation.
I really liked the story line of "The Jewelry" it was surprising to find out at the end of the story that the wife had all this real, expensive jewelry from some other man. The irony of that fact that when she died her real husband sold the jewelry and go all the money is really amusing to me.
Within the story "The Jewelry" I liked the sweetness of it in the beginning then it took a turn to dark when she died from pneumonia. I didn't like the fact that the story ended without finding out where the wife got the jewelry; we were only told what the husband believed to have happened. It leaves the mind wondering; which could be a good thing, but it irritates me.
In the Maupassant story “The Jewelry” I liked how the wife made her jewelry seem fake and of no value, it gave the story some interest. I did not like however the fact that he waited until the end of the story to figure that out when he took it all to the jeweler. Also where did the wife get the jewelry and how did she afford it? That also was a little confusing.
The Maupassant story was quite interesting.I like the suspense built between M.Lantin and his wife over the idea of her false jewelry.I find it comical how he discovers that the jewelry is real and it's actual cost. However, I did not like the part when he becomes rich again and starts to to become egotistical.I enjoy the satire at the end of the story when the rich M .Lantin becomes entangled in love again and his wife makes his miserable.
The characters seemed like likable people. At first the wife appeared to be an angel only to find out later that she was cheating on him. The husband lived a very boring life; he appeared desperately lost after her death. The nice thing was even though she probably cheated on him she left him a big inheritance after he sold off her jewelry. But he was dogged by his second wife but was better off financially.
I personally liked the short story “The Jewelry”. The story had an interesting plot and a plot twist at the end. She made it seem that the collection had no value to it. It kept you wondering throughout the story how she had accumulated all her jewelry. The fact that the husband sold it when she passed and received a good fortune from it was also a curve ball.
I like how the moral to the story “The Jewelry” is that money doesn’t buy happiness. Also I like that Lantin didn’t know that his wife had real fine jewelry. His first wife that died was the one lady that every man liked and she died a young lady.
The short story was spectacular. I have lived within while I was reading it. I was fascinated by love and care that the couple was sharing as well by the way the wife’s beauty and warm heart was described - was speechless. Although, the origin of the jewelry was a mystery, I didn’t understand why her husband had never asked the question where it came from since he was unable to pay for and for the longest time he thought that jewelry were false. The question remains, Why he didn’t care to find out?
The story "The Jewelry", was entertaining and shocking. I liked the twist it had with the shocking death and even more ironic that the jewelry was found to be real. I did not like the fact at the end, the narrator left the reader still wondering, where the jewelry came from.
The Maupassant story, “The Jewelry”, was a strange story. I liked that the author provided many details throughout the story. I did not like the ending of the story. It left the reader to their own imagination. I still do not understand why the woman lied about her jewelry being real.
I liked how the man was happy without his realization that his wife's jewelry was real and worth a fortune. Once he was overtook with money, his outlook and attitude changed. I felt that it was karma how he ended up miserable with his second wife for selling his first wife's most valuable possessions.

“The Jewelry” was a very interesting story yet with a very misleading ending. I enjoyed the story even though it was shocking to find out that the mistress was sneaking behind her husbands back with another man while also gaining the life of luxury through the new man because of him always buying jewelry for her that is worth millions of dollars. This story also shows the life of happiness without money. Then when the First husband gained the money after his wife passed he ended up living miserable life because of the new wife was only there for the money.
